Foundation Program (Lompoc)
April 26 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 5:30pm on Thursday, repeating until May 10, 2018
This class requires enrollment.
The Foundation Program is a unique, structured study program that enables us to gain deeper understanding and experience of Buddhist teachings and to develop a regular meditation practice. It is ideal for those who have a general understanding of Buddhism but who wish to learn more.
During our page-by-page study of Eight Steps to Happiness we will meditate on eight beautiful verses that comprise one of Buddhism’s best-loved teachings, Eight Verses of Training the Mind.
Through regular teachings and meditation, systematic study and group discussion, the Foundation Program (FP) supports our spiritual life. The Mahakankala Buddhist Center North FP class meets on Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm with term and holiday breaks. The special quality of FP is that we can gain authentic experience without abandoning a modern lifestyle.
By studying on this program we gain greater confidence in our meditation practice – from basic techniques for overcoming everyday problems, to practices leading to unsurpassed happiness and permanent inner peace.
For those who wish to delve more deeply into the teachings, anyone interested in trying out the program may attend two consecutive classes before deciding whether or not to join the ongoing study class.
To maintain the integrity and quality of the class discussions there is an attendance requirement for this study program.
All classes are held on Thursdays from 5:30-7:30pm except the section exam on Saturday, June 30 from 10am-1pm.
