SUMMARY:LOMPOC Meditation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:  \nBuddhist Meditation to Reduce our Reliance on Anger\n  \nIs anger ever justified?\nDoes anger defeat enemies or create them?\nAre you really in control when you are angry? \nBuddha taught that of all the delusions\, anger is the most harmful — yet so much of our modern society honors and even encourages it. \nIn this morning workshop we can be inspired to see for ourselves the deep extent to which anger controls our minds and our lives. Learn how anger is the source of so much of our suffering\, and how we can start using the practice of meditation to reduce our reliance on anger\, and eventually eradicate it from our minds altogether. \nPRE-REGISTER HERE: tickets  \nAt Blooming Energy \nBlooming Energy is Located at: \n103 West Walnut Ave \nLompoc\, CA 93436 \n

SUMMARY:Sacred Space Workshop
DESCRIPTION:  \nSuccess in study and meditation depends upon creating the right inner conditions\, specifically receiving inspiring blessings\, purifying negative karma\, and accumulating meritorious energy. \nWe achieve these through supporting practices such as relying upon a qualified Spiritual Guide\, making offerings\, and reciting prayers. In this afternoon workshop\, we will learn how to create a space in our own home or workspace for these practices. In particular we will learn about the practice of making offerings and how to set up a shrine. \nThis workshop will be led by our Resident Teacher\, Kadam Keli Vaughan\, and will include prayers and guided meditation to begin and conclude.

SUMMARY:Vajrasattva Purification Retreat via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Everyone Welcome. \nPurification practice ensures that the mental environment within which we plant the seeds of meditation is pure and level — not like stony ground. \nAll Buddhas appear in the form of Buddha Vajrasattva to purify the minds of living beings.  For this reason the practice of meditation and recitation of Vajrasattva is superior to other purification practices. By relying upon Vajrasattva practice\, we become happier and and find it easier to experience ever purer states of mind such as love\, compassion\, and wisdom. \nThe main body of the practice is concentrating on removing the negative karma in our mind by applying the Four Powers: \n\nReliance on the Compassion\, Wisdom\, and Power of Enlightened Beings\nRegret for Engaging in Harm and Negativity\nThe Virtuous Opponent Force of the Mantra of Purification\nThe Promise to Refrain from Negative Habits of Body\, Speech\, and Mind\n\nAn introduction to the practice will be presented by our Resident teacher\, Kadam Keli Vaughan\, on Saturday\, December 26 at 9am. This will help both beginners and experienced meditators set a good intention for the retreat. \nEach meditation session lasts 90 minutes and includes some instruction on the practice\, as well as preparatory prayers and time for mantra recitation. Saturday and Sunday sessions will be guided. Monday sessions will be self-guided for those who are familiar with the practice. The final session each day will be the heart practice of Kadampa Buddhism – Heart Jewel Prayers. \nYou are welcome to join us for the entire retreat\, or to drop in for any session you have time for.  Any meditation retreat becomes more qualified and beneficial if sequential sessions are attended. \nJoin Zoom retreat:\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/88401540998\nMeeting ID: 884 0154 0998 \n  \nRetreat Schedule: \nSaturday (guided)\nSession 1 Introduction to Purification Practice 9:00-10:30am\nSession 2 11:00am-12:30pm\nSession 3 2:00-3:30pm\nSession 4 4:00-5:00pm Heart Jewel \nSunday (guided)\nSession 1  9:00-10:30am\nSession 2 11:00am-12:30pm\nSession 3 2:00-3:30pm\nSession 4 4:00-5:00pm Heart Jewel \nMonday (self-guided) \nSession 1  9:00-10:30am\nSession 2 11:00am-12:30pm\nSession 3 2:00-3:30pm\nSession 4 4:00-5:00pm Heart Jewel \n  \nFees:  You can donate HERE.\n \n$5 for each session. \n$25 for whole retreat. \nFree for monthly members.

SUMMARY:Guru Yoga Mandala Offering Retreat Online
DESCRIPTION:Retreat sessions will be on Saturday\, September 5 and Sunday\, September 6. The second session of the retreat on Saturday will be an introduction to the practices of Guru Yoga and Mandala Offering by our Resident Teacher\, Kadam Keli Vaughan. The retreat is open to everyone. Each retreat session is 90 minutes long including prayers. \nThe practice of Mandala Offering creates vast good fortune and is a method to attain the Pure Land of a Buddha. \nGiving with a mind of bodhichitta unmixed with attachment is the first of the Six Perfections. Buddha taught giving as the first of the Six Perfections so that living beings can generate good fortune\, or merit\, to sustain all necessary conditions for our spiritual practice. While meditation plants the seeds of realizations within our mind\, if our mind is devoid of merit\, or good karma\, we will be planting seeds in barren ground. Accumulating merit creates a rich and fertile mental environment within which our meditations will swiftly ripen and transform into realizations. \nThe blessings arising from the practice of Guru Yoga are rain that nurtures and sustains the seeds of our meditation. Guru Yoga is a special and powerful method that enables us to receive the blessings of all Buddhas\, Bodhisattvas\, and holy beings. Receiving this inspiration into our mind bestows inner peace and gives rise to realizations of renunciation\, universal compassion\, and wisdom realizing emptiness. \nSession 1 8:00-9:30am\nSession 2 10:30am-12:00pm  (Introduction to the practice on Saturday / Meditation for World Peace on Sunday)\nSession 3 2:00-3:30pm\nSession 4 4:00-5:30pm \nEach session is $5 or $20 for whole day. \nFree for Foundation Program students.

SUMMARY:Meditation Workshop: Karma (Lompoc)
DESCRIPTION:This class is in Lompoc\, CA. \nMeditation has become widely popular in the past few years because of the proven health and wellness benefits for people who meditate regularly. However\, Buddha taught meditation — not merely as a temporary solution for anxiety or even for increased mindfulness of a fleeting “present moment” — but to completely transform the inner landscape of our mind by cultivating special attitudes that make our mind peaceful. \nIn this half-day workshop we will explore Buddha’s teachings to improve our understanding of actions and effects. Without a basic understanding of karma\, our minds will remain confused about the causes of suffering and the causes of happiness — believing that people or situations external to us are causing our experiences. In these two sessions we will identify how to begin an authentic Buddhist meditation practice by using methods that deepen our familiarity with the peace that arises from holding special minds of virtue — the cause of happiness — for longer and longer periods of time. \nThis workshop will be taught by the Resident Teacher of Mahakankala Buddhist Center\, Keli Vaughan. \nCost of this event is $20 per person or Bring A Friend for $30. Free for members of MBC’s Foundation Program.

DESCRIPTION:This class is in Lompoc\, CA. \nMeditation has become widely popular in the past few years because of the proven health and wellness benefits for people who meditate regularly. But Buddha taught meditation\, not merely as a temporary solution for anxiety or even for increased mindfulness of a fleeting “present moment” — but to completely transform the inner landscape of our mind by cultivating special attitudes that make our mind peaceful. \nIn this half-day workshop we will explore Buddha’s teachings on improving our minds of giving\, the actual cause of wealth and abundant resources. Without basic necessities\, our minds are consumed with worries that make it impossible to make progress on spiritual paths. For this reason\, Buddha explained how the cause of wealth is generosity towards others. SUMMARY:Peace Is Possible
DESCRIPTION:Our Ten-teens meditation group is called Peace Is Possible. Last month after our meditation the kids faced off with a blank white vinyl banner and produced an amazing sign for our fundraiser. \nThis month’s meeting is off-site. After short Dharma teaching and meditation\, we will be baking and making cards for local senior centers for Thanksgiving. \nParents who would like more info about Peace Is Possible please email us at info@meditationinsantabarbara.org.
