bshakyamuniprogBasic Buddhist Teachings & Meditations: Putting Out the Fire of Anger

Anger appears in many forms and disguises. Sometimes it manifests as a feeling of stress, other times it may take the form of depression, frustration, resentment, physical pain, or embittered rage. Anger has no other function than to harm.

Today there are popular mainstream philosophies that equate anger with creative energy, but Buddha explained that it is an emotion we need to recognize, reduce, and abandon if we want to enjoy and make the most of our life.

In this 9-week course we will explore practical solutions to the problem of anger, deconstructing its actual causes and learning viable alternatives to this painful habit of mind.

3/ 2 The Danger of Anger
3/9  The Psychology of Blaming
3/16 The Trap of Desire
3/23 Accepting Reality
3/30 Revising Expectations
4/6 Getting Over Our Self
4/13 Insight & Acceptance
4/20 Choosing Compassion
4/27 Healing Jealousy

Each class begins with a guided breathing meditation and culminates with a 2nd meditation based upon the evening’s topic. Everyone is welcome.

Drop in to any or all classes in this 9-week course. Perfect for beginners or those with meditation experience. Open to everyone.
